Jugmug Thela’s Baked Matthi are inspired by their fried avtar found at chai stalls across north India. Matthi or Matthri is a flaky biscuit-like savoury that has its origins and Rajasthan, but now savoured across the country in its localised adaptations and versions. Mostly fried, they are a staple and fond addition to chai in any north Indian home.
